The Extraordinary Adventurer (“we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through extraordinary-adventurer.com and our monthly mailer subscription, how we use it, and the choices you have.

- Subscription information. When you subscribe, we collect your name, email address, and shipping address so we can mail you your adventure challenges.
- Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details are entered directly on Stripe’s secure checkout and are never seen or stored by us. We receive only limited details such as your customer and subscription ID and payment status.
- Messages. If you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, and message.
- Stories and applications. If you share a story or apply to be a Featured Adventurer, we collect what you submit, which may include your name, email, city, adventure details, gear notes, social profile links, and photos.
- Usage information. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site. It collects information such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and referring site, using cookies and similar technologies.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To process your subscription, ship your mailer, and manage your account.
- To reply to your messages and provide support.
- To review applications and, with your submission, feature your story in the mailer or on our channels.
- To send service emails, such as receipts and replies to your questions.
- To improve our website, content, and products.
- To prevent fraud and comply with legal obligations.
3. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run the business, and only as needed:
- Stripe for payment processing and subscription management.
- Cloudflare for website hosting, security, data storage, and email delivery.
- Google Analytics for site analytics.
- Postal and shipping carriers, which receive your name and address to deliver your mailer.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or safety, or as part of a sale or transfer of the business. If you submit a story or application and are featured, the content you provided (such as your name, city, and photos) may be published publicly in the mailer, on our website, and on social media.
4. Cookies and Analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies through Google Analytics to measure site traffic. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or use Google’s opt-out tools, and the site will still work. Learn more in Google’s explanation of how it uses data.
5. Data Retention
We keep your information for as long as needed to provide the Service, keep business and tax records, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Messages and submissions are kept until you ask us to delete them, or until we no longer need them.
6. Your Choices and Rights
You can cancel your subscription at any time from the Manage Subscription page, where you can also update your payment method and shipping address. You may ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop using your submitted stories or photos, by contacting us through our Contact page. We will respond within a reasonable time. Some records, such as payment records, may need to be kept to meet legal requirements. Residents of some states, including California, may have additional rights under local law, and we will honor valid requests.
7. Security
We use reasonable measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access-controlled systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children’s Privacy
Our Service is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Links to Other Sites
Our site links to third-party sites such as Instagram and YouTube. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, so please review their policies.
